Oh how I love Aaliyah; I love her style, her voice, her vibes. I love everything about her. Her birthday was January 16th and she would have turned thirty-nine if she had not been taken away at such an early age, but her legacy surely lives on. Since she is one of my biggest fashion inspirations, I dedicate this look to her.

I found this shirt while browsing Urban Outfitters one day and loved the design of 'Aaliyah' at the top; orange/gold color that sparkles. Then, there is Aaliyah doing one of her signature poses and I knew I had to get it. It is a size large so I can wear it as a shirt dress in the summer, and I styled it with basic, light-blue jeans and royal blue over-the-knee boots from the fabulous AMI Clubwear (check out my review of the brand here). Over-the-knee boots are great to pair with jeans, especially in the winter when you do not want to go outside with just a dress/oversized top and a pair of boots if you live in the East. I accessorize with a small, clear handbag, gold jewelry, retro shades that give this look a bit of a modern 90's aesthetic, and a metallic jacket.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can not rock a t-shirt in the winter because it is too cold. Jackets can, and should, be styled as accessories because they can complete a look just as much as a purse can. Puffer jackets are the perfect way to accessorize a winter outfit while staying warm.

Now, if you have never listened to Aaliyah or have only listened to one of her many bops, I have provided a short playlist from Spotify below. Unfortunately, Spotify and Apple Music do not have the right to stream Aaliyah's music past her album "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number," but that album still delivers some of her most popular songs like Back & Forth and At Your Best (You Are Love). If I were to add more songs to the playlist, I would add the following: Are You That Somebody, One in A Million, Try Again, More Than A Woman, I Care 4 U, etc.
